This plant grows on hillsides in oak-madrone woods. It can be found on the slopes arounf Lexington Reservoir, and hidden in the Gorse in the hairpin curves of Montevina Road. It hybridizes with Iris douglasiana and can vary quite a bit in flower color, ranging from white to lavender to yellow.
